My cd broke inside my dvd rom..?

i newly turned on my pc and put a cd inside my dvd rom.. perchance around 5 mins i heard a crack inside my dvd rom and found out that the cd broke into pieces i have to unseal my dvd to remove small pieces of the cd.

still im glad my dvd is still working, i put other cd and its still reading, i haven't tested burning any files yet but i really hope it'll work.

what's the intention why this happend? is it the cd or the cd/dvd-rom? what's the cause? i really wanna know so i could prevent for something similar to it to happen again. appreciation!!

My cd broke inside my dvd rom..?

Simple, certain disc or DVD have imperfection in their design, so when they turn at glorious speed, this imperfection may exact micro-cracks to appear in the disc structure, and after using it a while, the CD or DVD purely explode at high speed! You should remove you DVD player, and unfurl it to remove potential metallic sheets that may ground your CD motor after a while... It surface to me before... Just blow nouns into it after opening, and it should win rid of some of them...
