For AMD 2800+ money that the processor is equivalent to a 2,8GHz Intel. Therefore your processor is perfectly skilled to run a game demanding 2GHz processors unless other requirements go wrong (ex: graphics).
Long ago I used to have an intel 1.6 Ghz games worked fine you enjoy a good amount of memory and if you own a good graphics card you shoud not verbs.
YES you can!

1. NO COST SOLUTION- Overclock your processor since you've got a accurate overclocker. No sweat hitting 2 Ghz on a good motherboard. But this is not really for newbies.

2. MEDIUM COST SOLUTION - Get a appropriate graphics card. Minimum could be a DX9 card w/ 8 pixel pipelines and ddr3 memory on board. You could draw from better cards but you may have to upgrade your power supply to cope up w/ the requirements of more powerful graphics card.

3. HIGH COST SOLUTION - Build a gaming rig using Intel Conroe or AMD64 X2 processor next put in a Nvidia 8800GTX monster card.
