My cd-rom and dvd-rom doesn't work?

its strange that my cd-rom and dvd-rom doesn't work anymore at the same time, my compute still can detect my dvdrom and cdrom, but when i insert disc, they don't read it, really odd, can it caused by virus? or it purely a coincedence that the cd-rom and dvd-rom is damage at the sime? gratefulness

My cd-rom and dvd-rom doesn't work?

Goto start/my computer/left click down to properties/hardware/device manager/then goto cd rom -dvd rom and uninstall.Restart and should refresh system and bring up drivers. If problem still within Wal-mart has a $29.00 CDRW/DVD player .Good Luck!
could it be the disk?
same item happened to me faster this year. HP told me that it was from a virus and i have to replace them both...
something has most credible altered it. if they are both ejecting and allowing you to insert a disc, as ably as still being detected by your computer, the likelihood are very slim that they are both duffed at duplicate time.

go through the usual process of checking and removing adjectives viruses and spyware. it may okay be, you never know!

if it is just a bag of they don't automatically play, then the shell hardware detection service will most possible have be disabled, however this is ONLY the autoplay function.

you can try a system restore in overnight case it isn't a virus and it is by chance an application which have changed this, although i have little expectation in system restore.

check the device controller and check to see whether there are any error messages within the properties for each drive.

if you really can't fathom what it is, enlarge up ur pc if u can, disconnect the drives via the settle cable, start up your machine witht hem disconnected, afterwards shut down again when windows loads and later reconnect the drives and boot up again. if that dosn't work, consider reformatting.
