My cd/dvd burner will read and burn dvds but wont read or burn cds, any philosophy??

The drive have always worked fine next to both discs. Just stopped reading and burning cds, burnt or bought. Dvds work fine. I'm stumped. It's an NEC ND-6650A running contained by a dell inspiron 510m only 1 year ancient.

Any ideas?

the driver software of the DVD drive is corrupted.so please download and re-install the driver software from the manufacturer's website.U can also install the software from the driver cds that u catch from the DVD drive manufacturer.
i have the same problem near my gateway...it was the format of the cds...did you tweaking brands?
R u sure it isn't your burning software that is the problem?
if u want to burn c.ds download nero burning,personaly i reckon its one of the best programs for burning c.ds
