2nd sector.yes it is a desktop...no going to the control panel did not help..it does it erratically and close to a speed demon going up and down and can't control it....happens when i'm surrounded by the midst of something important ( approaching the mouse is aware of this).
Mouse gone barmy?
It seems you hold a problem with the surface you are using... Optical mouse doesn resembling all surfaces... Try using it over a quality newspaper or something with a picture on it... dont use polished surfaces...
Reboot the computer and start again.
Get a new one. I suggest the g5 laser from logitech: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.as...
one of the best mice ever made.
if it an optical mouse, one next to red light coming from the bottom, next try to keep a piece of plain , non silky-smooth paper or cloth below it. Optical mouse behaves irratically on shiny surfaces
use a trackball you can go and get a decent logitech one for give or take a few lb30.00p
Try cleaning the bottom of your mouse and your mousemat; I had duplicate problem and it turned out there be a hair below the mouse! There were also tiny hair over the mat from my jumper. It made the cursor spring around erratically.
