motherboards-:what is the difference between socket 478,754,or/and a?
Different sockets permit you run different processors in them. Make unquestionable that the motherboard you buy matches the socket type of the processor you're going to put on it, and vice versa. Newer socket version are going to run newer more powerful processors.
I've attached an article that talks something like the differences between some AMD sockets.
dont get any of those. 478 is a discontinued Intel socket. 754 is a discontinued AMD socket. Socket A is an EVEN OLDER discontinued AMD socket. Move up to socket 775 for Intel or at smallest 939 for AMD
usually the number (939) is 939 pin processor, amds newest is an am2 socket, the most modern boards and processors cost is no more than the previous generation, im a amd lover and would suggest a socket am2 dual core(amd is having a price period of war with intel)there most recent price cut is just showing up on the open market, i beleave th am2 is a 940 pin processor, but not socket 940 compatible
